As an Indianapolis native, I am deeply proud to be a member of our city’s legal community. My journey into the legal profession was … circuitous. In the years traditionally reserved for academic pursuits, I held a much greater interest in the performing arts, dedicating my time and effort predominantly toward the various instrumental and vocal ensembles that school had to offer. The experience I garnered on the stage lent itself to some success in the service industry and later in sales, but neither endeavor afforded me the sense of satisfaction or purpose that I had hoped to find in my career. That all suddenly changed with a phone call I received in 2015, when I learned of the unexpected death of my father-in-law.
In the following weeks, I sat on the sidelines as my wife Chelsey struggled to navigate the intricacies involved in dealing with the estate of her father, who died without a will. It was that course of events that led to my decision to go to law school. I knew that I needed to better equip myself with the knowledge and ability to help the other important people in my life through the difficult but inevitable end-of-life process.
Fast forward a decade that saw me graduate from the IU McKinney School of Law and start my legal career in the public sector, I received another phone call in late 2024, this time from a former work colleague. He had recently moved into private practice at a family-owned elder law firm on the south side of Indy, and he was calling to let me know that they were hiring and that he thought I would be a good fit. I jumped at the opportunity to work at a firm that specializes in the area of law that first inspired me to become an attorney.
I’m thrilled to have joined the Holwager family in their mission to provide compassionate legal guidance to clients and their families as they navigate the natural progression of life. I look forward each day to expanding my expertise and extending it to those throughout the greater Indianapolis area who are planning for both their future and the legacy they wish to leave behind.
