Julie Downey
Julie began working at the Holwager & Holwager in 2022 as a legal assistant while attending law school, gaining hands-on experience and insight into the legal system.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2024, and was admitted to the Indiana bar in 2025. Her journey into law was driven by a strong desire to advocate more effectively for individuals, especially those navigating complex systems.
Before entering the legal field, Julie worked for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration as a Nursing Home and Waiver Specialist. This role gave her a deep understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable populations, which continues to shape her empathetic and solutions-driven approach to legal advocacy. That experience also gave her a firsthand look at the importance of careful, proactive estate and long-term care planning, particularly for aging individuals and their families.
She holds an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Outside of the office, Julie enjoys a busy life with her husband, their two sons, and their two cats.
